Madame Tussauds Sydney presents a new international line-up for 2013
Some of the biggest celebrities from China, Hong Kong, Korea and India will join the famous line up at Madame Tussauds Sydney throughout 2013, adding an exciting international flavour to the attraction. From February 2013 visitors will have the chance to serenade the crowd with Chinese superstar Andy Lau, who is widely recognised as the king of Canto-pop. In April, Indian cricket hero Sachin Tendulkar will take up permanent residence alongside Australian cricket greats Don Bradman and Shane Warne and the world?s best known kung-fu film star Bruce Lee will be arriving in August. Sydney?s Mantra on Kent?has unveiled the results of its $1.5 million hotel refurbishment, which includes? floor-to-ceiling transformations of the restaurant, 105 guest rooms, meeting facilities, the lobby and more. The major makeover includes stylish new furniture, wide screen televisions, revamped laundries, freshly painted walls and new carpet. Yoko Ono artworks to appear exclusively at the Sydney International Art Series
Artworks by Yoko Ono will be on display exclusively at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) from November 2013, as part of the annual Sydney International Art Series. The exhibition, titled War is Over! (if you want it), will be the first major presentation of Yoko Ono?s work in Australia and Sydney will be the only Australian city to host the event. Yoko Ono is also expected to visit Sydney to open the exhibition in November next year, joining a world class line-up of international artists who have previously exhibited in the Sydney International Art Series, including photographer Annie Leibowitz. Dreamworld announces new rides and attractions for summer
Dreamworld on the Gold Coast has announced the opening of numerous new attractions this summer, including the third land in Dreamworld?s DreamWorks Experience – Kung Fu Panda: Land of Awesomeness, a little taste of China based on the computer animated film. Queensland Art Gallery to present Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art
The 7th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT7) opens next month at the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane. Held from 8 December 2012?to 14 April 2013, the exhibition will mark the 20th anniversary of the APT series, which is the only recurring exhibition of contemporary art from Asia, the Pacific and Australia. APT7 will feature painting, installation, sculpture and photography works by 75 artists and artist groups from 27 countries across the region, including Indigenous Australian artists. Newcastle?s Craft Beer Week opens soon
Beer enthusiasts can whet their appetites with a new locally brewed craft beer made exclusively for Newcastle?s Craft Beer Week, taking place from 18?to 25 November 2012. The limited edition beer, named 1942, will only be available on tap at selected Newcastle venues during the event week. Indigenous art exhibition coming to Fremantle
We don’t need a map: A Martu experience of the Western Desert is opening from 17 November 2012 to 20 January 2013 at the Fremantle Arts Centre in Western Australia (WA). The unique exhibition will bring ?the desert to the city? to celebrate the lively culture of the Martu, the traditional owners of a vast area of WA?s Western Desert. It will present the work of more than 30 artists and feature paintings, media collaborations, finely wrought objects, aerial desert photography, bush tucker and talks with the Martu artists and rangers.
