The Boston Harbor Hotel welcomes Stephen Johnston as Managing Director and GM

The Boston Harbor Hotel is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Johnston as its new Managing Director and General Manager. With over 29 years of hospitality experience and broad operational knowledge, Johnston brings a wealth of industry expertise to his role and to the team at the Boston Harbor Hotel.

?I look forward to continuing to build upon the culture of award-winning service that has made the Boston Harbor Hotel a truly distinguished Hotel in the city of Boston for nearly three decades,? states Johnston.

Stephen Johnston joined Pyramid Hotel Group in 2011 when he was selected to manage the historic Fairfax at Embassy Row, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Washington D.C. As General Manager, he reestablished the Fairfax as a leading hotel in Washington, D.C., known for delivering superior quality, award-winning service and exceptional guest experiences, and proudly received the Silver Plume award for General Manager of the Year in 2013.

A native of Ireland, Johnston worked in a variety of hotels in Ireland and the United Kingdom after completing his studies at the Dublin College of Catering. Having gained extensive operational experience in both food and beverage and rooms, he joined Jurys Hotel Group in 1990 (later renamed The Doyle Collection). Over his tenure with Jurys, he held a variety of positions as they grew their business from three hotels to a portfolio of 36 hotels. After opening three new Jurys hotels in Ireland, he moved to Boston, MA in August 2003 to open and operate Jurys Boston Hotel (now Loews Boston Hotel), located within the city?s former Police Headquarters.

Officially becoming an American citizen in August 2013, Johnston welcomes the return to Boston and to his home of many years in Norfolk, MA where he lives with his wife Audrey, and children Sarah and Harry.
