Accor in deal to build 10 hotels in Middle East

Hospitality News: Accor LogoAccor Middle East, a leading hospitality group in the region, has forged a strategic alliance with top Saudi conglomerate Alesayi Group to develop 10 new hotel properties across the Kingdom by 2018.

The first ibis in the Kingdom was launched in Riyadh in December 2012. With the second property, ibis Yanbu, set to open by first quarter of 2014, the brand has been successful in the market.

Accor said it aims to strengthen its position in the Kingdom with a future development target of 30 to 40 ibis properties.

The announcement come following the signing of an agreement by Accor Group chairman and CEO Sebastien Bazin and Alesayi Group president and CEO Sheikh Mohammed Omar Kassem Alesayi in this regard last year at Accor head office in Paris.

The duo also signed a management contract in Jeddah on Dec. 17 for the development of the first three Ibis hotels in strategic location in the key cities of Riyadh and Jeddah.

Commenting on the agreement, Sheikh Mohammed said ?we are very proud in forging this strategic alliance with Accor for development of the ibis brand network of economy hotels in the Kingdom.?

?This is aligned with our group?s strategy to invest in the Kingdom offering the consumer the best international quality service at very competitive prices,? stated the chief of the Saudi Arabian conglomerate which boasts of more than 60 companies worldwide.

The Ibis project in Jeddah will include two hotels, a 200-room and a 300-room respectively, while the ibis Riyadh hotel will have 194 rooms, said the statement from Accor.
